The Knobl un Honik Kolektiv is a humble yiddishist collective based loosely in Vancouver, Canada, which is also Coast Salish territories.

Knobl un Honik, which means “Garlic and Honey”, is a supportive and non-judgmental space for people who are learning about and reconnecting to our embodied stories, relationships, and languages. The goal is to organize and support inter-generational Yiddish events and programs, and carve out a space for our diversity. We connect to the deep healing and wisdom in our ancestral knowledge and language to mend and build our Goldene Kayt, the bond linking generations. Bisel a bisel.

We are into dreaming big and small. Let’s think about housing, food, language, land relationships, and supporting each other and our communities through life transitions, in a way that is explorative and sometimes slow.

The aim of this project is to provide shared spaces, community resources, and programming, understanding that each person carries sacred stories and wisdom of what Yiddish is. This project is shepherded by shif, who is a guide, listener, fierce supporter, grief steward, and inviter of co-creation. Join us in learning and caring for the abundant and diverse world of Yiddish!
